Smyth County Information Systems Smyth County’s main frame operations are through an IBM eServer AS/400 Series. All departments are networked together locally and by remote communications. Our software inventory consists of 75% purchased and 25% in-house developed.The Information Systems Department offers full technical services including evaluating, selecting and purchasing all hardware and software products and provide on-going maintenance for the AS/400 and all PCs for: County Administration, Water/Sewer Department, Building Inspection Department, Smyth County Treasurer, and Commissioner of Revenue. We also offer specialized technical services and in-house consulting for the following departments: Community Development, County Engineer, Registrar, Zoning, Sheriff's Department, E-911, Commonwealth Attorney, Victim/Witness, Solid Waste, and Animal Shelter.
