Project Lifesaver

Project Lifesaver is a program now available to Smyth County citizens through
the Smyth County Sheriff's Office.

Chief Deputy
Major Kenny Lewis is the assistant to the
Sheriff and reports directly to him. He is responsible for assisting in the
planning and directing of activities of the Sheriff’s Office. In the
Sheriff’s absence, he is the acting Sheriff and assumes operational
responsibility for the office. Some of his duties include employee
training, developing operational and administrative procedures, resolving
personnel issues, managing and preparing office budgets, and analyzing new
laws, methods and technological advances to improve efficiency. Major
Lewis has been employed by the Sheriff's Office for 38 years and has served
as Chief Deputy for 22 years.
