2011 Personal Property Taxes

Personal property taxes for the year 2011 are taxed at a rate of $2.25 per $100.00 of value as stated in the NADA Blue Book for January 1st of the same tax year.  The rate for airplanes is $1.40 per $100.00 of value.

2011 Real Estate Taxes

Real estate taxes for the year 2011 are taxed at a rate of $0.69 per $100.00 as based on the assessment that is done every six years.

Pet Tags

All pet tags expire and are due in December, but the month of January is given to purchase them.  The tags are available throughout the year and need to be purchased as soon as your dog or cat has their first rabies vaccination.  When purchasing pet tags you will need to bring proof of your pet's rabies vaccination with you.  The prices for the tags are:  $3.00 for males, $5.00 for females, $1.00 for unsexed, and $25.00 for kennel tags.  If your pet loses its tag you may purchase a replacement tag for $0.25.

County Decals

Effective April 1, 2011, Smyth County Treasurer's Office will no longer be selling county decals, however, the charge for the decals will be applied on your personal property tax statement.
