office is also open the two Saturdays immediately preceding any general

Monday, October 6, 2008
is the last
day to register to vote or change
address/name for the
November 4, 2008 election.
The last day to
request a mailed absentee ballot for the November 4, 2008
Election is
October 28, 2008.
The last day to vote an
absentee ballot in person is
November 1, 2008.
The Voter Registrar’s
Office will also be open on Saturday, October 25,
2008 and Saturday, November 1, 2008
from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm for
in person absentee voting.

Question: Beginning on January 1, 2009 may Smyth County, Virginia, in the
unincorporated areas of Smyth County, or in any incorporated areas without a Food and Beverage
Tax, levy a Food and Beverage Tax of four (4%)
percent on food and beverages as defined in
35.1-1 of the Code of Virginia, but subject to
the exceptions to this tax contained in 58.1-3833
of the Code of Virginia?
