Payment Options

Water bills are billed once a month. Bills are mailed to the address on file with the Water and Sewer Department. Failure to receive bills for water and/or sanitary sewer service will not relieve you from responsibility for prompt payment. To avoid any delays in receiving your bill, please notify us immediately of any mailing address changes.

Pay Your Water Bill in Person

You may pay your bill in person at the Smyth County Administration Office Building.  The Water and Sewer Department is located on the first floor.

Note: Cash, Check, Cashiers' Check or Money Order accepted. No Debits or Credit Cards accepted.

Late Payments
Smyth County applies a 5% penalty to any unpaid balance over 30 days in delinquency. The minimum amount of penalty applied to an unpaid balance is $1.50.  Upon becoming 60 days delinquent, service is discontinued and a $25.00 reconnect fee is also added to the account balance.  In order for service to be re-established, the account balance must be paid in full.  Upon receipt of balance due, service will then be scheduled to be connected.  Depending on conditions, priorities or emergencies, it may take up to three work days to restore service to the account.
