Payment Options
Accounts are billed once a month. Bills are mailed to the address on file with the Water and Sewer Department during the third week of each month and are due on the 10th of each month.
Failure to receive bills for water and/or sanitary sewer service will not relieve you from responsibility for prompt payment. To avoid any delays in receiving your bill, please notify us immediately of any mailing address changes.
Note: There will be a $50.00 return check fee imposed for all returned checks to the Smyth County Water Department.

Pay Your Water Bill in Person
You may pay your bill in person at the Smyth County Administration Office Building. The Water and Sewer Department is located on the first floor in suite 113.
Drop Box
For your convenience you may now pay your bill at the drop box located at the drive through outside of the Smyth County Administration Office Building.

Late Payments
Smyth County applies a 5% penalty to any unpaid balance after the 10th of the month. The minimum amount of penalty applied to an unpaid balance is $1.50. Upon becoming 5 working days delinquent, service is discontinued and a $50.00 reconnect fee is also added to the account balance. In order for service to be re-established, the past due account balance must be paid in full, including the reconnect fee. Upon receipt of the balance due, service will then be scheduled to be re-connected. Depending on conditions, priorities or emergencies, it may take up to three working days to restore service to the account.
