Intern
The Smyth County Administration Office is looking for a creative and talented intern to create a new educational event for Smyth County residents.
This internship would run from January 2026 until May 2026 and would be limited to 20 hours per week, depending on candidate availability.
Position Description:
- Build a new educational opportunity for citizens
- Basic knowledge of budgeting and finance management
- Basic administrative and organizational skills, such as filing, Microsoft Office, and general office maintenance
- Basic knowledge or ability to learn event marketing and social media
- Position will be no more than 20 hours per week from January 2026 - May 2026, depending on availability
- Position will be compensated in credit hours or Virginia minimum wage
Criteria:
- 2.5/4.0 GPA and in good academic standing
- Currently enrolled in a college or university and pursuing a degree relating to position or governmental affairs
- Must provide resume, transcripts, and be willing to interview with County staff

Strong candidates will have a background in event planning and/or public education
