Burn Ban Update

At the Board meeting on May 28, 2026 the Board of Supervisors voted to amend the Smyth County burn ban to permit burning from 4 p.m. - 12 a.m. No fuel may be added to fires after 12 a.m. The burn ban is not completely lifted, and there are still restrictions outside of the 4 p.m. - 12 a.m. timeframe.

Please continue to be mindful of fires that can spread embers and use caution when burning, as our region is still experiencing dry conditions.

Violations to this order shall follow the same enforcement efforts as described in the above mentioned Department of Forestry website, to include a Class 3 misdemeanor with a fine of not more than $500. If you have questions, please contact 276-706-8311.
